About the Position

The Salesforce and Business Intelligence Manager is a new role that will build CCI’s data infrastructure and practices across the organization to scale CCI’s mission. The ideal candidate is excited about leveraging data and new ways of working to help improve how we operate internally, deliver programs, and expand our reach.

This role will be part of the Strategy, Operations, Finance, and Administration Team, an interdisciplinary team committed to supporting and improving the daily work at CCI. In partnership with CCI staff, the Salesforce and Business Intelligence Manager will design custom Salesforce architecture in response to staff needs and organizational priorities to manage data integrity; and lead and/or support data analysis and visualization efforts to monitor, evaluate, and grow organizational impact (e.g., program participation, contractor and partner information, program evaluation data, etc.).

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, entrepreneurial, and creative. They love working with different types of data, systems, and roles within an organization. They can both easily identify issues resulting from data collection methods and work collaboratively with colleagues to determine how these issues may impact a broader goal and recommend and implement solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following responsibilities for the Salesforce and Business Intelligence Manager include an estimated percentage of time this position will spend on core duties.

Design, build, and support CCI’s data and information systems and infrastructure (60%)

  • Serve as CCI’s Salesforce Administrator (Lightning Enterprise Sales Edition)
  • Maintain and leverage Salesforce-related integrations including FormAssembly, Apsona, email service provider (ESP) software, and Google Analytics and Wordpress
  • Research best practices and become the in-house expert on third party integrated software tools
  • Design, document, and lead training for staff on Salesforce and related systems
  • Field, investigate, and respond to requests to build and update new fields and functions in Salesforce and related systems
  • Ensure data is entered correctly regularly across users by streamlining data entry processes and training staff on data governance guidelines for maintaining and using data
  • Ensure that organizational data is being handled in a secure manner
  • Manage relationship and projects with Salesforce consultant(s) as needed
  • Oversee data cleaning projects, which may include executing and training external contractors and staff to conduct data integrity audits and cleanups

Lead and/or support data analysis efforts (25%)

  • Analyze and visualize data to inform strategic decision making, to improve internal operations, to support CCI telling effective stories, and to assist program team members in evaluating the impact of their work over time.
  • Proactively lead and collaborate with staff to identify how to leverage existing and new data systems and infrastructure to efficiently collect, manage, and analyze data.
  • Partner cross-functionally to develop performance dashboards and assess options for using additional data visualization tools like Tableau.

Develop short and long-term information and data system strategies for CCI (15%)

  • Understand CCI’s short and long-term organizational strategies and evolving day-to-day needs. Develop recommendations to maintain and enhance CCI’s data systems and infrastructure.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Salesforce/CRM Super-User

  • Strong understanding of user administration and permissions in Salesforce - Public Groups, Profiles, Roles, Sharing Settings, Permission Sets, Org-wide defaults
  • In-depth knowledge of custom objects, formula fields, validation rules, workflows, flows and Process Builder
  • Strong understanding of general database infrastructure and good data hygiene practices
  • Experience using FormAssembly, Apsona, and email campaign software in conjunction with Salesforce
  • Extensive experience reporting on Salesforce data, especially on custom objects and using custom report types
  • Experience developing and delivering Salesforce staff trainings

Data Analytics

  • Strong data manipulation and analysis skills
  • Extraordinary attention-to-detail
  • Comfortable creating reports and dashboards per user need
  • Ability to create dynamic and engaging data visualizations
  • Skilled in Excel, R, SQL, and/or python
  • Experience with Tableau and other analytic software or database solutions

Communication and Relationship Management

  • Ability to articulate in writing and verbally complex technical requirements, problems, processes, or data to audiences with varying familiarity of the information being presented
  • Motivated by helping others succeed
  • Easily takes initiative to identify causes of and solutions to challenges within the organization
  • Has openness to trying new approaches to the work, iterating on those approaches quickly, and changing course when needed
  • Approachable and willing to receive feedback and change directions/approaches as needed
  • Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the organization, which may require adjusting priorities and communicating on these changes

Project Management

  • Ability to create and clearly communicate work plans and anticipate deadlines
  • Comfortable juggling multiple priorities and competing deadlines
  • Ability to help prioritize work by considering individual, team, and organizational needs while effectively communicating with staff how and why priorities are set and provide short-term solutions/ideas when bigger asks/requests are not able to be addressed immediately

Required Qualifications

  • Interest in advancing CCI’s mission and values
  • Certification as a Salesforce Administrator or extensive demonstrated experience as a Salesforce Administrator/Developer
  • Experience leveraging different research and design methods to identify problems and propose solutions

Minimum of 3 years of experience in:

  • Salesforce administration and development
  • Working with relational databases, large data sets and multiple data sources
  • Experience leveraging data systems and infrastructure to further organizational strategies and goals and meet the ongoing, everyday needs of organization and program operations
  • Working with stakeholders to define and scope data related projects

Location

There is a preference for this role to work in some capacity from the CCI office in downtown Oakland to be close to the team post-pandemic when it is considered safe to do so. However, we are open to candidates in the U.S. who are interested in working remotely.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is $85,000 to $110,000. Exact compensation will be determined based on a candidate’s qualifications.
